Chocolate Cake

You know how sometimes you'll get a free magazine in the mail, with some super-duper offer on a new subscription? Well, a while back, I got one that seems like a really good mag. In the very back, there was a recipe for Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake, so, with our anniversary coming up and everything, I thought I'd make one. (It's been years since I've made a chocolate cake, especially from scratch!)

I found the recipe a bit odd because it didn't call for eggs or milk, but it turned out really good.


But the icing was a different story. Plenty of butter and cream. But it would never get thick enough to spread. I tried adding powdered sugar, but I didn't have much of it, so that didn't help. So I added some peanut butter. That didn't help either. Baking chocolate? No improvement.


It tastes great, as you can tell by how little is left, but if I ever try this recipe again, I'll use a different icing.
