National Preparedness Month

I read in the new issue of Better Homes and Gardens that September is National Preparedness Month. It's time to plan for the worst, hope for the best, and stock up on essentials--like batteries and chocolate!
It wouldn't hurt to have a first aid kit!

The article suggests that for emergencies, we should store 7 gallons of water and 7 days' worth of nonperishable food and supplies per person.  The Red Cross also suggests that you should pack a "go bag" that includes cash and 3 days' worth of food and water.
