I took vacation time this week and Phillip came to stay a few days with us. I picked him up Monday afternoon in Longview and we'll take him back tomorrow.
Monday afternoon, we got to enjoy Pawpaw Sparky's famous Coke floats. None better!
Then on Tuesday morning, Phillip and I made Rolo pretzel turtles.
Well, the Rolos didn't all make it to the turtle phase...
We had intended to go fishing Tuesday afternoon, but a big rainstorm blew through and changed our plans.
Kids have the best time with just a little bit of nothing, don't they?
Lonnie played golf this morning, so I took Phillip to Beaverbrook and let him swim. I forgot my camera, so I took several pictures on my phone. When I tried to download them, I discovered that this cheap new phone I have didn't save a one of them.
Then this afternoon, we finally made it to the lake to try our luck at fishing.
Pawpaw didn't get to fish much, what with baiting hooks, changing lures, baiting hooks, changing hooks, baiting hooks, baiting hooks ...
Phillip was the only one of us who caught anything. This was his big black perch. He was just using a fishing line and a worm--no pole. He was so proud of it and had to show it to everybody who came by. He caught a few little bitty bream, too.
Another boy, Zack, was also out there fishing with his grandpa. When Phillip went to show him his fish, Zack spotted a snake swimming near the pedal boats. He tried to push it away with the end of his fishing rod but, instead, caught the snake by the tail on a treble hook! It was rather exciting for a while there.
