While we were over in Shreveport/Bossier over the weekend, we went to World Market to look around. They always have such interesting stuff. Well, I found this delicious-sounding muffin mix, Bacon Cheddar Onion.
Those of you who know me realize that I rarely use a mix for anything, but, how could you go wrong with something like that?
Well, this morning, I mixed it up and popped it in the oven. My first clue was that there was almost no aroma. You know, that mouth-watering, grab-you-by-the-nose fragrance when you're baking bread? Any kind of bread? Just wasn't there.
The muffins looked great when I took them out of the oven. We sat down to eat, but both of us remarked that they were a little dry. The bacon turned out to be artificial bacon bits (which I don't like), but there weren't enough of them to taste. Cheddar? Onion? Not noticeable at all. I just used butter on mine, but Lonnie spread some of Mama's kumquat marmalade on his second one, and said it helped.
We have quite a few muffins left, if you'd like to try them. I doubt we'll be using them.
