Water Pressure Saga

I've been a little reluctant to post much about Lonnie's ongoing battle with City Hall over our water pressure (or rather, lack of water pressure), but we are now seeing some progress. After dealing with Lonnie for well over a year, our City Manager suddenly decided that he wanted every single homeowner to come see him personally if they wanted something done about the low water pressure. Of course, most of these people work and City Hall closes at 4:30, so, at the last City Council meeting, we had nine of the thirteen homeowners there. There were other things on the agenda as well, so there was a standing-room-only crowd. The mayor remarked that she had never seen so many people show up for a Council meeting. Anyway, after a lot of wrangling, the Council finally agreed to split the cost of installing 1" water taps for those who wanted them. Lonnie agreed to pay the required amount, but it still galls me, considering that the engineer they had at the time this subdivision was built was later found to have been taking money under the table and approving substandard projects. Of course, he was fired and is now long gone, and the City doesn't want to be responsible for what their employee did. At any rate, our new tap has been installed and the water pressure at our house, for the most part, is acceptable now. It still fluctuates up and down, but it's much improved over what we've had. The house at the top of the hill was down to 24 PSI yesterday. The State requires 35 PSI. Anything less than that, and you're supposed to boil your water before using it. Most of the Council members, obviously, don't seem to think this is a problem.
