The work progresses...

Some of you have asked about the progress on the deck, and I must apologize for being so slow in getting the new pictures loaded. Lonnie has done wonders with it.

Lonnie had to dig up all those beautiful burgundy-colored lilies that were growing along the bay window.

But he relocated them to the south side of the house. That's where they'll get the most sun.

A man's gotta take a break every once in a while!

I thought I caught a picture of that hammer in mid-air, as Lonnie tossed it from one hand to the other, but I was a half a second too slow. Notice that the concrete pad he poured a while back is gone. He had to either tear it out or make the deck a step higher than the porch.

Here, the frame is all squared up, just waiting for the first flooring board.

Where's a miter saw when you need one???

Gotta talk to Barbara and bring her up to date on what's going on around here!

Here, he's using a sledge hammer to tap in the boards he nailed to the facer board that will butt up against the porch.

He's three boards short of finishing the flooring on Phase One, but he's already moved the grill and chairs out on the deck. It makes our little bitty porch seem larger with all that out of the way!
