Mini-Vacation

Carrie was fretting here a while back because they wanted to go to Galveston for a week, but it was going to be so expensive for gas, a hotel, Moody Gardens, and everything else they wanted to do down there.

So I suggested that, instead, they do some mini-vacations to places that are closer.

This past weekend, they did just that. They drove to Shreveport, which is less than an hour away from them. First stop was Love's Truck Stop, where Hwy 79 hits I-20, where they picked up some hotel coupons. She called for reservations, and was able to use a coupon for each night, cutting their lodging cost by half. They were going to check at the hotel for coupons for local attractions, but I forgot to ask her how that turned out.

They did go to the Greenwood Flea Market (map here), which she said was great. There were antiques and all sorts of things. Wish I had been there!

They also went to Sci-Port, which I know Phillip loved. He's a future scientist, you know...

and they went to the Red River District Water Park...

And they went to Gators & Friends, where Phillip fed a baby zebra...

and a baby alligator...

and where Lonny fed the baby deer. Odd. He's usually hunting deer, not feeding them!

And, of course, Lonny thinks they haven't really been to Shreveport unless they make a stop at Bass Pro Shop!
