Shelley's mother is in the business of doing estate sales for people. She is preparing for one to be held this next weekend, and Shelley, Beth, and I went to get a sneak preview the other day.
I found the neatest autograph book (remember those?) that belonged to a 15-year-old girl named Bernice. She was from Texas, but in 1950, she was in the 9th grade at Parkland School in Tacoma, Washington. This little memory book has typical 9th grade sentiments, such as this one from Delores:
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to Dust,
If it weren't for paint,
Some girls would rust.
And this one from John:
When you get married
And have some brats,
Bring them to my place
To chase the rats.
And what do you think of this one, from Larry and echoed by Jimmy:
When you grow up
And think you're sweet,
Take off your shoes
And smell your feet.
Aaah, memories of adolescence!
