When asked what kind of birthday cake he wanted, he just said "a yellow cake with chocolate icing."
So I made the cake, then realized I didn't have enough powdered sugar to make icing, and had to make a run to the store. Fortunately, it isn't far away.
I melted chocolate and brushed it on the top of the cake in a plaid-like pattern. But then I decided to put chopped pecans on it too, so you can't see the plaid. Sure was good, though, either way.
Late this afternoon, we drove over to Hughes Springs for supper. The original idea was to go to Dudley's in Longview, but it kept clouding up and looking like rain, so Lonnie said, "Let's just go eat Mexican food." Next time, it's Dudley's, rain or no rain.
