Okay, and did you notice that some of your wrapping paper is not on a glued-together cardboard tube, but is actually on a tightly-rolled sheet of very stiff Kraft paper?
And do you have a sewing machine and some odd bits of lace or some other kind of trim? If so, here's my solution to the problem . . .
Take that roll of Kraft paper,
download a stocking template from the internet, and trace it onto the unrolled paper. (You'll probably have to have a second pair of hands to help keep the paper unrolled while you trace the pattern.) Cut out your pattern X 2.
Then layer the two pieces of stocking, hold the trim in place, and stitch through all three layers, temporarily leaving the top open. When you get to that point, slide the gift inside and then finish stitching the stocking closed.
Voila, problem solved! I added an initial ornament as I stitched the top closed. It's up to the gift recipient as to how to open the thing!
