Build and Grow

We met Carrie, Lonny and the kids at Lowe's in Longview today. They do a "Build and Grow" project every few weeks, and today, the kids built birdhouses with hinged lids.

Lonny helped Ashley, Carrie helped Carrol Ann . . .

. . . and Phillip just dived right in, without much help at all.

There were quite a few kids there, and all the hammering was deafening - even though they were using tiny little hammers.

Oops, Carrol Ann had one side on wrong, so Carrie tried to pull the nails out. They ended up just getting another birdhouse kit. I told her to make me a pattern from the one they messed up on.

Finished projects:

All these Build and Grow clinics are free for the kids, and the Longview store has a clown there who gives them balloons when they're finished. This is a really good thing that Lowe's does. Next time, the kids will build a recycling truck!
